Sailing

Is at the heart of CYC

Since our charter in 1853, it has been the mission of CYC to promote sailing, camaraderie, and fellowship on the water.
From lifelong friends taking out a newcomer to a child on the front of their mom's Sunfish, there are many ways to get involved. CYC offers competitive racing for every age and skill level. We have events in the ocean and sound, so there is something for the whole family! The wind will lure you to the water with a sea breeze that kicks almost every afternoon.

Racing

Our competitive sailors are all about the points and the silver. You’ll find serious sailors representing all club fleets racing in our sound and ocean events. While racing is most active during the summer, we have competitive events every month of the year. We proudly host regional, national, and international regattas here at CYC.

Cruising

It's not always about speed. Grab your gang and soak in a beautiful sunset as part of our 'Sip N Sail' sessions, or take your own boat around Bird Island for a full moon sail. It's hard to beat cruising down to Masonboro for a picnic and a swim. Cruising is all about taking it slow and enjoying the ride, not rounding the marks. Everyone is welcome to cruise!

Race Committee

It takes a lot of volunteers to pull off safe, fun, and professional sailing events. Our fantastic race committee volunteers make it possible. Important roles exist both on-shore and on the course. Interested in helping out but unsure where to start? We offer training for new race committee members. Volunteers can give a couple of hours or snag a front-row seat to racing action.

Sailing Calendar

Adult Sailing

Our adult sailing classes cover the basics of sailing and we offer advanced sailing for those interested in joining our larger boat fleets.

Junior Sailing

The CYC junior sailing program and summer camps serve ages 5 - 18 and are open to the public. Our summer programs focus on sailing, safety and fun!

Sail Lessons

Our US Sailing-certified instructors offer private lessons to all ages and skill levels. Lessons are hands-on with more time spent on the water than shore.
